Harford Mall Extends Hours Based On Demand

BEL AIR, MD — The Harford Mall has changed its hours, staying open until 8 p.m. Monday to Saturday. Before the shift, the mall closed at 7 p.m.

"It was based on demand from customers and retailers to be open a little longer," Lauri Altman, general manager of the Harford Mall, told Patch.

"Then we'll actually have some more adjusted longer hours for holidays," she said.

At the Harford Mall, she said, holiday hours start the day after Thanksgiving.

Sensormatic, which conducts retail research, reports shoppers have been heading to stores more during the week during the coronavirus pandemic.

"Since the beginning of the pandemic, we’ve noticed a shift toward weekday shopping as consumers take advantage of the new remote work reality while also consciously avoiding the historically-large weekend crowds," Bjoern Petersen, president at Sensormatic Solutions, said in a statement. "We expect this trend to continue into the holiday season. U.S. consumers continue to be more purposeful in their shopping journeys, so retailers need to make sure they capitalize on every in-store visit."

The Harford Mall is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
