US Vice President Kamala Harris has warned against the failure of the US Congress to authorize further aid for Ukraine, saying it would be a "gift" to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

She said Ukraine is in desperate need of "critical weapons and resources" as it approaches the second anniversary of Moscow's invasion on February 24, 2022.

Addressing Kiev's European allies, Harris told the Munich Security Conference: "You have made clear that Europe will stand with Ukraine And I will make clear, President Joe Biden and I stand with Ukraine."

After months of wrangling, earlier this week the US Senate approved $60 billion in aid for Kiev. But support for Ukraine has eroded among many conservatives and it is not clear that the measure will get through the Republican-led House of Representatives.
