Harrisburg high school principal put on administrative leave

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — A high school principal for a school district in Dauphin County was put on administrative leave after a protection from abuse (PFA) order against him was issued, according to school officials.

Principal of John Harris Campus Laquan Magruder was placed on administrative leave after the PFA was filed sometime in the week regarding actions that he did off-campus, according to Superintendent Eric Turman.

“I am contacting you to inform you that the principal of John Harris Campus has been placed on administrative leave,” Turman said in a statement. “The District became aware this week of a final protection from abuse order issued by the court concerning activities by the principal outside of school property.”

The district is also investigating, Turman said. No criminal charges have been filed against Magruder.

“Employee matters are confidential; however, we are also committed to honesty and transparency,” Turman said. “Because this has become a matter of public record in our judicial system and involves one of our school leaders, we felt it important to make you aware that we acted immediately, following procedures and protocols, and in what we feel is the best interest of the school and our students.”
