Alright, everyone: It's almost time we say goodbye to the story of Indy! 🥹

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is the upcoming—and last—movie of the franchise, marking one last rodeo for the film's star, Harrison Ford. We're counting down the days for the premiere, because we're obviously excited. However, we're also fine with taking our time, because we're not sure we're ready to bid our last farewell!

Back in April, we got a look at the first full trailer—and boy, were we in for a treat! Not only did we see the 1980's classic movie make the ultimate comeback, but we got to see a glimpse of Harrison Ford (along with his signature fedora) make a triumphant return for one more great adventure, too!

The fifth installment of Indiana Jones, directed by James Mangold, was first announced by Disney in a tweet back in December. Of course, the news quickly lit a fire of excitement in fans everywhere—especially on Twitter.

"Hearing the news on Harrison Ford back in action again as Indiana Jones is fantastic, he is like the last action hero," one fan tweeted.

Ford told Parade in 2020 that he was excited to jump back into traditional Indiana Jones antics, which include all the "running, jumping, falling and rolling around on floors."

The actor sure knows how to tease his fans, but we aren't complaining! Read on for everything we know about Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, including the full trailer, premiere date, cast news, spoilers, and more.

When will 'Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny' premiere?

The fifth Indiana Jones movie will hit theaters sooner than you might think! It will premiere exclusively in movie theaters on June 30, 2023.

Is there a trailer?

Yes! We can see Indy embarking on another one of his missions once more—or, as his goddaughter in the trailer says, "a final triumph!" At a lengthy two minutes, the trailer is packed full of action and humor and teases a new arc in which Ford appears to travel back in time.

"I've been looking for this all my life," Indy says just before the trailer fades to black.

Prior to the full-length trailer, viewers got a sneak peek with a teaser that was released back in December 2022. The teaser trailer premiered at Disney's D23 expo in September, and at its debut, Ford reportedly got emotional while speaking with the audience in a surprise appearance at the D23 Expo.

In his speech, he teared up after thanking the crowd. "Thank you for making these films such an incredible experience for all of us. I 'm very proud to say that this one is fantastic." Ford said, according to Variety.

What will 'Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny' be about?

Based on the trailer, the famous archeologist is pulled out of retirement by his goddaughter. The crux of the drama centers on an ancient device named "the dial of destiny," which Indy and the Villian (played by Mads Mikkelsen) chase after. Empire (who was at Disney's D23 expo) reported that the film is partially set in the year 1969. If that year sounds familiar, it's because it's when Russia and the United States were in their famous "Space Race."

Also—if you notice anything interesting about Harrison Ford's facial features from the trailer, it's for a reason. Empire spoke with James Mangold—who is also one of the film's writers—where he mentioned digitally de-aging Ford for the film. “I wanted the chance to dive into this kind of full-on George-and-Steven old picture and give the audience an adrenaline blast,” Mangold said. “The audience doesn’t experience the change between the ’40s and ’60s as an intellectual conceit, but literally experiences the buccaneering spirit of those early days … and then the beginning of now.” Ford took one look at himself de-aged and called it “a little spooky.”

Who will be the villain in 'Indiana Jones' 5?

That would be none other than Jürgen Voller. He'll be played by Mads Mikkelsen, who described his character as: "I 'm German. I 'm from the '30s. I 'm a scientist. And I think that's all I 'm allowed to say," reported Movie Web. Though, we do know that this character is based on a real life, historical villain: Wernher von Braun, a Nazi-turned-NASA-engineer. We'll have to wait for the premiere to see how it all ties in!

Who will be in the 'Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny' cast?

It couldn't be an Indy film without Ford reprising his lead role as Jones, but starring alongside him is Phoebe Waller-Bridge (creator, head writer, and star of the BBC sitcom Fleabag) as his goddaughter. The rest of the cast includes Antonio Banderas, Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson, and Thomas Kretschmann.

Is Shia LaBeouf in Indiana Jones 5?

Shia LaBeouf, who played Mutt Williams in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, will not be participating in the final installment of the Indiana Jones franchise. There hasn't been any official word on why—but we can assume it has something to do with his poor words regarding the 2008 film. In 2010, LaBeouf sat down with Los Angeles Times for what is now an infamous interview. In it, the actor stated that he didn't feel as if the movie was up to par with its' predecessors. "I feel like I dropped the ball on the legacy that people loved and cherished," LaBeouf said. He also went on to say that Ford "wasn’t happy with it either." Though his character was revealed to Indiana Jones' son, the role will not be reprised in the new movie, but it will be addressed. We'll just have to watch to find out how!
