Harrison has a new free electronic recycling service. Here's what residents can drop off.

HARRISON - The village is kicking off its new free electronic recycling program for residents on Feb. 12.

Harrison entered a three-year contract with recycling service company COM2 to offer this program, which will replace the village's yearly electronic recycling events with Calumet Recycles.

The drop-off center — located at the village hall at W5298 State 114 — will be open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Assistant Village Manager Chad Pelishek said residents should notify village staff at the front desk to get assistance recycling their unwanted items.

What items will Harrison accept?

The following items can be dropped off at Harrison Village Hall free of charge.

  • Calculators

  • Answering machines

  • Computers, laptops and tablets

  • Cameras and camcorders

  • Cellphones and telephones

  • DVD and VCR players

  • Desktop copiers, printers, scanners and shredders

  • Fax machines

  • Game consoles

  • Microwaves and toasters

  • Stereos

  • TVs and monitors

  • Vacuums

What items will Harrison not accept?

Harrison will not accept the following items at its drop-off site.

  • Air conditioners

  • Batteries

  • Blenders and coffee makers

  • Light bulbs and lamps

  • Humidifiers and dehumidifiers

  • Fans

  • Smoke detectors and fire alarms

  • Stoves and ovens

  • Washers and dyers
