KOKOMO - For the second time this season, Harrison's tennis team defeated the six-time defending state champion.

This time, it ended Carmel's quest for a seventh consecutive title.

The Raiders won all three singles positions in the championship match of Wednesday's Kokomo Regional to claim the regional title with a 3-2 victory in a battle of the state's top two teams.

Harrison's only other regional title came in 2010. The No. 1-ranked Raiders (24-0) now play Penn in Saturday's noon semistate at Culver Academies.

Senior Aaron Gu claimed a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles before Carmel claimed both doubles points. Isaac Flanery won his No. 2 singles match in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4 and Landon Mohr finished off his third-set dominance at No. 3 singles with an ace to secure the title.

In the individual singles tournament, West Lafayette's Arun Raman advanced with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over University's Owen Schellhase.
