If Harry and Meghan Skip the Coronation, It Could *Actually* Kill Their Relationship With the Royal Family

Pretty much every time Prince Harry and Meghan Markle do, well, anything at all, someone seems to predict that action (probably) marks the official end of their ability to ever patch things up with the rest of the royal family.

Today, in something only very slightly different, a royal expert is predicting that if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle *don’t* do something, that lack of action will (probably) mark the official end of their ability to ever patch things up with the rest of the royal family.

The lack of action in question would be skipping King Charles’s upcoming coronation in May, which the Sussexes have definitely been invited to but which they have not decided whether they will attend. While pretty much every unnamed royal source out there seems to agree that Harry and Meghan will be actively ignored/lowkey snubbed at every opportunity by most of the rest of the royal family if they attend the coronation, royal public relations expert Edward Coram-James thinks the Firm will ultimately be even more upset if the Sussexes decide to skip.

“In a universe in which the damage already caused by the rift is still recoverable from, at least in part, a no-show would be the fatal, irreversible blow, both in the public perception as well, potentially, as within the family itself,” Coram-James told GB News (per Page Six). “It risks drawing out the conflict over the long term.”

According to Coram-James, if Harry and Meghan skip the coronation, the biggest story of coronation weekend will be the fact that they aren’t there (their absence “would draw as much, if not more, media attention”), which is pretty much the opposite of what the royal family wants.

“It would give further oxygen to the rift and allegations that the Sussexes have leveled at the royal family,” he explained. “And the shadow of their absence would loom large over the entire ceremony, risking becoming the elephant in the room and an unwanted sideshow.”

For their part, Harry and Meghan have reportedly been negotiating some conditions for their coronation attendance, including some pretty basic acknowledgements of their kids, Archie (whose actual 4th birthday happens to fall on the exact day of the coronation) and Lilibet.
