The former footballer and manager is keen to join Danny Dyer in the BBC soap as his character Mick Carter’s new sidekick, explaining that his casting would make perfect sense thanks to his East End roots.
Admitting “my ambition for 2021 is to get a part in EastEnders”, he went on that he had already worked out who he should play and had even written his first scene.
Setting the scene that Danny Dyer’s character Mick Carter would be behind the bar in The Queen Vic, he detailed his entrance.
“One of (the regulars) says, ‘’ere, you heard Redknapp has moved back in the area?’ and another says, ‘Nah, he’s moved to that posh Sandbanks’. Mick then says, ‘Nah, he’s had enough of it. He’s come back’.
“At this point, I come into the pub, they turn around looking shocked and I say, ‘I’ve moved around the corner’. Mick then says, ‘Harry is back ’cause we’re starting up a little business. A bit of this, bit of that’.”
Redknapp’s plan also works on another level as he is the former manager of West Ham, who both Dyer and his screen alter ego Mick are huge fans of.
The ex-footballer added that he’d like to do a year on Albert Square, but wanted to go out with a bang by being killed off.

He said: “I’ve already written the script so now all the show’s bosses need to do is to call me up. I’d like to be in it for a year — before they bump me off or something.”
In this year’s I’m A Celebrity, Sir Mo Farah also made a bid for EastEnders stardom by acting out pub and market stall scenes from the soap with campmate Shane Richie, who played Alfie Moon.
