Harry Styles talks 'My Policeman' gay sex scenes

Harry Styles has opened up about the gay sex scenes in his new movie My Policeman.

Styles will star in the 1950's set film as a policeman who falls in love with a museum curator played by David Dawson.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Styles offered his opinion on gay sex scenes in My Policeman and cinema in general: “So much of gay sex in film is two guys going at it, and it kind of removes the tenderness from it."

The singer and actor added: “There will be, I would imagine, some people who watch it who were very much alive during this time when it was illegal to be gay, and [director Michael Grandage] wanted to show that it’s tender and loving and sensitive.”

My Policeman will be Styles' first leading role in a film after previously appearing in Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk and in a cameo as Starfox in Eternals.

Styles is also set to star in Don't Worry Darling which is directed by his partner Olivia Wilde and also stars Florence Pugh, Gemma Chan and Chris Pine.

My Policeman is based on a 2012 novel of the same name written by Bethan Roberts which received positive reviews upon release.

The film will also star The Crown actor Emma Corrin as Styles' character's wife.

Corrin is best known for playing Princess Diana on the fourth season of The Crown. For her performance in the Netflix show she was nominated for an Emmy for Best Lead Actress and won the Golden Globe for Best Drama Actress.

My Policeman is set to be released in cinemas on 21 October before moving to Prime Video the following month.

The film is set to premiere at Toronto International Film Festival in September.
