A scavenger hunt on Small Business Saturday is aimed at highlighting businesses in the New Hartford area while giving participants the opportunity to win prizes, including gift cards.

The Buy Local Committee of the New Hartford Chamber of Commerce announced its annual Small Business Saturday Scavenger Hunt will again take place Saturday.

Small Business Saturday is always the Saturday after Thanksgiving and is designed to bring attention to local, small businesses as the holiday shopping season kicks off with Black Friday.

In New Hartford, Small Business Saturday comes with the growing tradition of the scavenger hunt contest.

The contest involves participating chamber members having a special QR code at their businesses. Once scanned by a smart phone, the code takes the participant to the New Hartford Chamber of Commerce’s website where they can enter their phone number for a chance to win prizes donated by chamber members.

Each donated prize is worth at least $50, chamber officials said. Grand prizes include a $500 and $250 shopping card.

Participating businesses include:

  • Barrettas Beauty Bar & Studios

  • Blue Truck Wine & Liquor

  • Calabria Coffee, LLC

  • Dragonwood Studios at Riedi's Handcrafted
