Hartford man dies after being shot in New Haven

A Hartford man has died as a result of injuries he sustained when he was shot in New Haven on Dec. 30, police said.

In that case, New Haven police received a call about a person shot on Saltonstall Avenue, between James Street and Saltonstall Court, at just before 10:30 p.m. Dec. 30, police said. The responding officers found Ernie Negroni-Feliciano, 27, of Hartford, who had been shot, police said. 

American Medical Response ambulance service took Negroni-Feliciano to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he initially was listed in critical condition, police said.

Negroni-Feliciano succumbed to his injuries on Dec. 31, police said.

In a separate case, also on Dec. 30, New Haven police said they received a Shotspotter alert of gunfire on Ferry Street, between Chatham and Limerick streets just before 7 p.m. Responding officers located a 44-year-old New Haven woman who had been shot, police said. The woman was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital. where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The Bureau of Identification responded to the scene and collected ballistic evidence in both of the cases.  Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit are leading the investigations, also in both cases.
