Hartfordresidentwins $188K lottery prize

Jul. 17—"Stacks of Ca$h Progressive" is one of several types of "Fast Play" lottery games sold in Connecticut, according to Connecticut Lottery.

"Fast play" games play like scratch-off tickets but are printed on-demand from a retailer's terminal or ticket vending machine. The jackpots begin with a set minimum value. Once that value is funded, it grows with each sale statewide until somebody wins. The ticket price determines what percentage of the jackpot the winner receives.

The winner Thursday paid $5 for their ticket, winning 50 percent of the jackpot. The odds of winning the top prize in a "$5 Stacks of Ca$h Progressive" game are around 1-in-203,703, according to Connecticut Lottery. Players who pay $2 get 20 percent of the jackpot and 100 percent for $10.

On Tuesday, a Windsor Locks resident won more than $91,000 from a $2 "Stacks of Ca$h Progressive" ticket, which was sold at a Stop and Shop in Windsor.

A winning "$5 Stacks of Ca$h Progressive" ticket was also sold at a BP in Stamford on June 28. The winner, a Stamford resident, claimed around $268,800.

Other recent Connecticut Lottery wins include an $100,000 CASH5 prize that was claimed Thursday by a Middletown resident. The ticket was sold at a City Gas in New Britain.
