Hartman Memorial Scholarship winners named

ZANESVILLE — Two graduating seniors from West Muskingum High School and two from Maysville High School recently received the 2022 Christopher Kelly Hartman Memorial Scholarships.

The West M winners were Devon Davis and Kaylee Pieper. Davis plans to attend Zane State College this fall. Pieper plans to attend Hocking College and was also part of the natural resources conservation program at Mid-East Career and Technology Centers.

Maysville winners were Nathaniel Harper and Laikyn Lewellen. Lewellen will attend either Zane State or Central Ohio Technical College in the fall. Harper will go to the University of the Cumberlands.

The Christopher Kelly Hartman Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of the 1993 graduate of Maysville High School who was a deputy sheriff for 12 years before he died of suicide in 2016.

Scholarships are awarded to applicants from Maysville, West Muskingum or Bishop Rosecrans high schools who are planning to pursue higher education opportunities for the next school year at a technical college or vocational school. Preference is given to students with a 3.5 or lower grade point average and they must have been involved in extracurricular activities in high school.
