Harvest Pizzeria opens location on Granville's Main Street

A new pizzeria has opened in Granville, and it's keen on supporting local farmers and producers in the area.

Columbus-based Harvest Pizzeria opened its fifth location at 454 S. Main St. in mid-February.

Owner Chris Crader said he wanted a location nearby after moving to Granville a few years ago and wanted to provided more pizza options in the community. He said the response has been positive and the restaurant has been very busy since opening its doors.

"The other part is Granville is largely an agricultural community, and we felt like the addition of a concept that focuses heavily on local produce and suppliers would be a good fit," he said.

Just like the other locations, Crader said the Granville restaurant sources ingredients locally, including from Alexandria's Sunbeam Family Farm and Granville's own Black Radish Creamery. He hopes to add more through the spring and summer.

"We're interested in working with anybody that can supply us," he said.

While Harvest has four other locations in the Columbus area, this is its first in Licking County. The menu is similar to the other locations, but Crader said he wants each location to be true expressions of the communities of which they are a part.

"We just wanted it to have a nice relaxed vibe, but slightly elevated too at the same time — show people we care," he said.

Last year Crader opened Station, a local café that also works with local farmers, in the former train station. The two restaurants are across the street from each other.

Harvest is open Tuesday-Thursday from 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. It's temporarily carryout only on Sundays, which is available from noon-8 p.m.

Because Granville previously was a dry community, Crader said there is a special approval process that the restaurant must go through for a Sunday liquor license that requires going door-to-door with a petition.

Crader said hopefully by the beginning of summer the restaurant can be open for full dining on Sundays.
