Harvey Weinstein Is Rushed to Hospital After Being Found Guilty of Rape
Hours after being found guilty of rape and a criminal sexual act in the first degree, Harvey Weinstein was rushed to the hospital.
In an ambulance making its way to Rikers Island — where the disgraced movie mogul will await his sentencing — Harvey was rerouted to Bellevue hospital in New York City after complaining of chest pains and heart palpitations, according to his attorney Donna Rotunno. Weinstein was admitted overnight, but he is said to being doing "OK" by Rottuno.
Despite his health concerns (Harvey recently underwent back surgery), the judge in his case ordered him to jail until his sentencing date on March 11. Weeks before his trial in January, Harvey's bail was doubled to $2 million following concerns about the handling of his electronic ankle monitor, so the decision shouldn't come as a surprise.
While Weinstein was convicted of two out of five felony sex crimes, he was acquitted of the most severe charges against him on Monday afternoon. The two counts of predatory sexual assault could have landed him a life sentence in prison, but, now, he only faces up to 25 years.
