Haunted houses and zombie farms: 7 spooky things to do in Southern Indiana this Halloween

EVANSVILLE – "Spooky season" is officially here, and each weekend until Halloween, these Evansville-area haunts will be hosting eerie adventures that are sure to give you a scare.

Halloween events in Evansville

Nightmare on Eastbrooke

Oct. 14-15, 21-22, 28-31

2813 Eastbrooke Drive, 6-7 p.m. for no-scare tours, and 7-11 p.m. for full-scare tours.

Nightmare on Eastbrooke is a haunted experience that is free, and it provides a chance to give back to the community. Organizers ask participants bring canned food items for the Tri-State Food Bank. Look out for the light show and Michael Myers to give you a fright.

Olde Courthouse Catacombs and House of Lecter

Oct. 7-8, 13-16, 20-23, 27-31; 4th and Vine, and 325 Main St. , 7-9 p.m. Sunday and Thursday, 7-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, $20 for individual tickets to either haunted house or $30 for unlimited trips on night of tour.

Downtown Evansville's scariest haunted house has returned. Walk through creepy corridors of the "dungeon" to see the scariest parts of the building.

Halloween events in Newburgh

Newburgh Civitan Zombie Farm

Oct 7-9, 13-16, 20-23, 5466 S Vann Road in Newburgh. From 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., there are $5 no-scare guided tours. At 7 p.m. the $14 full-scare tours take place.

This dual outdoor-and-indoor haunted house forces you to survive the outside area with zombies and ghouls. Then inside attendees meet battle a scare-laden haunted house. Fundraising proceeds benefit the Newburgh Civitan Club and other charities in the community.

Halloween events in Princeton

Lyles Station Haunted Corn Maze

Oct. 29

953 N. County Road 500 W. Princeton, Indiana, 8-10 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults, $6 for kids, and children 3 and under are free.

Costumes are welcomed. After finishing the maze, activities will be available for the whole family to participate in.

Halloween events in Vincennes

Abattoir A Haunted Attraction

Oct 7-8, 14-15, 21-22, 27-30

321 N. Second St. in Vincennes, Indiana. Open from 7 p.m. to midnight, and 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Oct 30. Admission is $15 per person.

Vincennes' only haunted attraction pushes you to the edge of your seat with its two floors of haunted, horrifying experiences. The costumes are frighteningly realistic, and all your fears and senses will be pushed to their limit. Light scare is available from 4 to 6 p.m. for those that don't want to be too frightened.

Halloween events in French Lick

Big Splash Adventure Haunted Mansion

Through Oct. 26

8524 W. Indiana 56 in French Lick, Indiana. Sunday through Thursday 6-8 p.m. and Friday through Saturday 6-9 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under.

This ghoulish mansion is made even spookier with spiders, creaking doors and more creepiness than you'd expect. It's sure to have you shaking in your boots especially since there's a possibility to see a ghost!

Psychopath Haunt

Every Friday and Saturday in October

2773 S. County Road 1000 West in French Lick, Indiana. Open from  8-11 p.m., Tickets are $25 for the PsychoPath Trail & Maze, or Zombie Shoot and $35 for the fast pass.

A haunted attraction not for the weak at heart or children under 14, it claims to be "Indiana's most terrifying haunted attraction." It starts with a one-mile haunted trail and maze, and is followed by a half-mile Zombie Shoot.  Scares can begin or end in the parking lot, waiting lines or attractions.
