It's all about having fun: The Guernsey Eagles give the Muskingum Tigers a run for their money

CAMBRIDGE − The Division V Guernsey Eagles went head-to-head with the Division III Muskingum Tigers on Tuesday at Cambridge Middle School.

As both teams arrived ready to play, Eagles Coach Rick Lynch and Tigers Coach Ian Harris got the teams prepared for the face off. And it showed on the court, as the two teams stayed neck in neck for the majority of the game.

Heading into the half it was the Tigers ahead by four points with a score of 22-18. Mikey Hayes and Brandon Riley played hard for the Tigers, even as Riley took a spill while guarding the Eagles' Robert Covington. Adam Finch connected hard with Tiger player causing him to sit out for the remainder of the period and tend to an injury.

The Tigers began to increase their lead, finally winning the game with a score of 46-32. The top scorers for the evening were Robert Covington for the Eagles with 20 points and Tigers Jeremy Palmer and Tyson Queen with 10 points each.

Eagles Coach Rick Lynch noted, "We've been working hard, but at the end of the day, as long as everyone is having fun that's the only thing that matters."

The Eagles travel to Coshocton on Feb. 6 and will close their season at home against the Tuscarawas County Rockets on Feb. 13. The Tigers will face the Perry County Cougars at home at the Singer Center on Feb. 8.
