Hawaii Five-0's Chi McBride lands co-lead role in upcoming TV comedy

Hawaii Five-0 actor Chi McBride has landed a lead role in a new TV series.
The rebooted police procedural drama came to an end after 10 seasons in April last year.
After appearing in Puppy Dog Pals and This Is Us, Deadline reports Chi has now landed a co-lead role in an as yet untitled CBS comedy pilot which will be based on the life of professional bowler, Tom Smallwood.

The series will also star comedian Pete Holmes, who recently voiced a two-episode role on The Simpsons.
It will follow Tom (played by Holmes) who, after being laid off from the assembly line at a factory, decides to try and achieve his lifelong dream of becoming a professional bowler.
McBride will play Archie, who owns the bowling alley frequented by Tom in the series. He acts as a father figure and mentor to the aspiring bowler and encourages him to go for the big time.
Fans will probably best recognize him as Lou Grover on Hawaii Five-0, while he's also starred in Pushing Daises as Emerson Cod.

McBride is also known for his voice work as Marvel's Nick Fury. Last year, he reprised the role in Disney+'s Fury Files.
Its official synopsis reads: "Fury Files gives viewers top-secret access to SHIELD intel on key Marvel heroes and villains.
"All of this is told by none other than the mysterious Fury, bringing together a mix of animation and motion comic art! Looking to download a bunch of information about every single hero? Fury's got you covered."
