A construction materials manufacturer is opening a new distribution center in the growing business hub in Stow's northwest corner — and bringing 105 full-time jobs with it.

The Haydon Corporation will move into a new, 254,000-square-foot-facility off Seasons Road at 4847 Gray Lane. Here's what we know about the plan.

Site will serve as Midwest hub for New Jersey-based Haydon

This will be the fourth Haydon distribution center in the United States for Haydon, which is headquartered in Wayne, N.J. The company provides metal framing, hardware, rooftop support, and baseboard heating systems for commercial and residential construction projects.

Elizabeth Taylor, marketing and communications leader for Haydon, said site renovations are beginning in the next few weeks, and the facility will be up and running early next year.

Distribution center to generate millions in yearly payroll

According to Gov. Mike DeWine's office, the facility will generate $6.6 million in new annual payroll.

The Ohio Department of Development on Monday approved the project for tax credit assistance during its Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) meeting on Monday. The TCA approved a 1.514%, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Company climbs into huddle of Seasons Road-adjacent businesses

The Haydon building is among several in the Seasons Road area recently constructed by Ray Fogg Building Methods. At least two other companies, Athersys and Veritiv, have launched operations in the Fogg facilities.

Stow's Director of Planning & Development, Nathan Leppo, said in an email, "We fight hard for all our economic development and couldn’t be more delighted to have them in Stow. Undoubtedly, the Haydon Corporation’s decision to move in is a win for the city of Stow and the region as a whole."

State Sen. Kristina Roegner, R-Hudson, also welcomed the Haydon announcement.

"Companies such as Haydon Corporation expanding their operations demonstrates we have made sound economic decisions to inspire growth in Ohio," Roegner said in a prepared statement. "These new jobs will have an exceptional impact on our businesses and families in Stow and Summit County."

Haydon president cites importance of Northeast Ohio location

Chad Collins, president and CEO of Haydon, said the opening of a Midwest facility is an important milestone for the company.

"We are excited to partner with the Ohio Department of Development to create additional job opportunities and have a positive impact for the state of Ohio," said Collins. "The addition of the Stow facility will allow us to better provide our customers with exceptional service by shortening lead times and increasing inventory options in the Midwest."
