Senior Haylie Hutchinson of La Quinta High School fired a 7-over 81 on Tuesday to lead Coachella Valley girls' golfers in the CIF-Southern Section individual preliminaries, but none of the seven desert golfers advanced to the finals.

The preliminaries were played on the par-74 North Course at Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills, with only the top 36 players in the field advancing to the individual finals Nov. 3 at Western Hills Country Club, also in Chino Hills.

Hutchinson was one of four golfers to reach the individual preliminaries out of the Desert Empire League finals. Joanna Bushnell Crist, a freshman from La Quinta who won the DEL finals, shot 82 at Los Serranos. Senior Aleeza Besharat of Xavier Prep shot 83, while senior Hailey Hays of Palm Desert shot 90.

Of the three desert golfers in the field from the Desert Valley League, Gema Gonzalez of Coachella Valley High School shot 96, Irene Hernandez of Coachella Valley shot 125 and Monika Aguilar of Indio High School shot 129.

Three desert teams -- Palm Desert, La Quinta and Coachella Valley -- will play in CIF-SS team regional play next week.
