Saturday's mild temperatures gave way to a hazardous weather outlook for Des Moines and parts of central Iowa.

A winter weather advisory was in effect for 17 counties Sunday, including Polk, Dallas, Warren, Story and surrounding counties. According to the National Weather Service, a narrow band of moderate snow accumulation is possible Sunday night into Monday morning.
Snow was expected to mix with rain after 1 p.m. in Des Moines before gradually ending with less than half an inch possible. The forecast called for mostly cloudy skies, with a high near 42 and winds 9 to 11 mph.
Ames may see up to 3 inches, while Waterloo can expect 1 to 2.
The full list of counties covered by the advisory: Carroll, Greene, Boone, Story, Marshall, Tama, Audubon, Guthrie, Dallas, Polk, Jasper, Poweshiek, Cass, Adair, Madison, Warren and Marion.
