Succession is airing its final ever episode tomorrow night (or early Monday morning in the UK), but is that it for the world of Waystar Royco?

The TV and film landscape is chock-full of spin-offs and prequels, and HBO is no stranger to that with Game of Thrones already having House of the Dragon with more on the way. Will the Warner Bros Discovery-owned broadcaster put pressure on creator Jesse Armstrong and the team for more?

Speaking to Deadline, HBO head of drama Francesca Orsi admitted "there was some talk" about spin-offs, but it's been decided that it's better to end things here, for now at least.

"I'll never say never but my instinct, and based on a number of conversations about the evolution of Succession and these characters, at this stage, there is no intention of spinning any one character off," she said.

"Jesse, should he do a series again, I think it will be entirely original. Whether it’s based on IP or not, I’m not sure, but it will be a new show, a new idea entirely."

"There is maybe sadness in that I don’t have the opportunity to build something with him," she continued, "at least not for now."

"I’m not sure what he’s going to be doing next, and I’m looking forward to sitting with him after the writers' strike and seeing what he’d like to do. He’s an original thinker, and I have no doubt that he’s going to impress us and move us once again with something new at some point."

We've only got one episode of Succession left, but luckily it's going to be a feature-length finale, taking the time to give the Roys a proper send-off.

Succession season 4 airs on HBO in the US, and Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
