Wrong-way driver in Auglaize Co. crashes into two cars on U.S. 33

A driver is hurt following a wrong-way crash in Auglaize County Sunday night.

Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol were dispatched to U.S. 33 near milepost 12 in Moulton Township after 9 p.m. on reports that a driver was going in the wrong direction, according to OSHP Sergeant Ross.

An investigation revealed that a 70-year-old driver from Lima was traveling the wrong way on U.S. 33 in their 2003 Buick LeSabre. The driver was going eastbound in the westbound lanes, Ross said.

A 2023 Chrysler Pacifica and a 1999 Dodge Stratus were both traveling west on U.S. 33.

The Buick struck the Chrysler and then the Dodge before coming to a final stop in the median, Ross said.

The driver of the Buick was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

The driver and passenger of the Chrysler were treated on scene with minor injuries, Ross said.

The driver and passenger of the Dodge were not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
