Happy New Year, and welcome to the Brunswick Today newsletter brought to you by me, StarNews reporter Jamey Cross.

I've never been one for New Year's resolutions, but I do love January. There's something refreshing about stepping into a new year and feeling all the anticipation and excitement that comes with looking ahead at the coming 12 months.

For Brunswick County, it seems we'll see a lot more of the same in 2024: development, incoming residents and the infrastructure challenges that come along with that growth. If 2024 is anything like 2023, I'm fastening my seatbelt and preparing for a long year of news.

I'm anticipating a year of big news in Brunswick County, and I'm excited to bring you all you need to know about happenings in the county this year.

Wishing you and yours all the best in 2024. Thanks for reading.

Here we grow again

Here's a look at seven major projects that could see big strides this year.

An idea that started in a women's bible study in 2007 has provided hundreds of pairs of shoes to Brunswick County students. With Power Walking Ministries, Southport resident Wendy Jones aims to provide students with new, proper-fitting sneakers so they can participate in physical education classes and play on playgrounds safely. Reporter Renee Spencer has her story.
