Dec. 30—"Midnight Rider" is the second single from the Allman Brothers' 1970 sophomore album, Idlewild South. The song's outlaw refrain is familiar to many: "But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no ... not gonna let 'em catch ... the midnight rider." The song also includes the words "And I've got one more silver dollar" in three spots, and that phrasing apparently resonated with One More Silver Dollar, an Allman Brothers cover band that performs at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31.

On a day of few organized activities planned around the Santa Fe area, two are set at Madrid's Mine Shaft Tavern. A New Year's Eve celebration with Joe West featuring dancing and guest musicians follows at 8:30 p.m. Also, a holiday menu will be offered, featuring appetizers such as green chile blue crab cake and crispy pork belly and main courses such as wild mushroom tacos and Cornish hen.
