July 24, 1909: “A collar display made in the hope of capturing a prize is attracting much attention and occupies the north display window of the Vernon clothing establishment at 205 and 207 South Michigan street. It is a clever arrangement by E. P. Ward, of that store, and has been entered in a contest in which Cluett, Peabody & Co., of Troy, N. Y., offer $600 for the best window displays of their collars.” The South Bend Tribune

July 25, 1916: “Plats of five new additions to the city of South Bend were approved at the meeting of the board of public works in its rooms in the city hall this morning. The plats approved were: Samuel Good addition, Kensington addition, first and second Oliver additions and the Indiana avenue addition.” The South Bend Tribune

July 26, 1926: “Maximum production during August and September is assured for the Studebaker corporation, according to a letter by A. R. Erskine, president of the corporation, accompanying the report for the second quarter of 1926.” The South Bend Tribune

July 27, 1939: “Announcement of federal approval of the proposed WPA project to improve Mishawaka’s street lighting system was made today by Senator Frederick Van Nuys. The government will provide $4,692 in the approved $11,000 project, according to terms of the grant.” The South Bend Tribune

July 28, 1948: “Gov. Ralph F. Gates arrived in South Bend this forenoon to lay the cornerstone of the Northern Indiana Children’s hospital at Angela boulevard and Notre Dame avenue. Members of the board of trustees and others also came to South Bend to have a part in the ceremony.” The South Bend Tribune

July 29, 1959: “ ‘Water Madness,’ a water ski show, will be presented at 2 p.m. Sunday by members of the Eagle Lake Junior Yacht Club. It will be held at the clubhouse, Eagle Lake, Edwardsburg, Mich. Refreshments will also be available there. Taking part in the show will be the juniors and the Jumping Joes, a water ski club from Elkhart. Featured will be a five-man pyramid, slalom skiing and disc acts.” The South Bend Tribune

July 30, 1967: “Workmen begin erecting the mammoth dome which will cover the south arena at the new Athletic and Convocation Center at the University of Notre Dame. When the dome is completed, about Labor Day, work will begin on erecting a similar dome on the north area, where concrete now is being poured.” The South Bend Tribune
