June 4, 1900: “At a session of the county council held Saturday afternoon the Sample street bridge project, advocated by the county commissioners several months ago, received official endorsement.” — The South Bend Tribune

June 5, 1911: “Gentry Bros. circus, which gave two performances in South Bend Saturday became defendant in a $200 damage suit filed to-day with Justice Hildebrand by the board of county commissioners. The Board alleges the circus management failed to pay a $50 license fee to St. Joseph county.” — The South Bend Tribune

June 6, 1922: “Knute K. Rockne, athletic director at Notre Dame university, gave positive assurance this morning that the South Bend institution will become affiliated with the new Indiana State Collegiate Athletic conference. Mr. Rockne is secretary of the committee on arrangements for the organization.” — The South Bend Tribune

June 7, 1937: “Carl Fites, local representative of American Airlines, announced today discontinuance of training service at Bendix field, St. Joseph county airport, until completion of new runways and other improvements.” — The South Bend Tribune

June 8, 1947: “Preparations for the future expansion of Memorial hospital are progressing with the removal of two more residences in the proposed building area although hospital trustees have no immediate plans for a fund raising campaign which will precede the actual construction.” — The South Bend Tribune

June 9, 1959: “Mayor Edward F. Voorde today ordered city-wide rationing of water sprinkling as water pressure in the southeast section dropped to what he termed a potentially dangerous level. Meanwhile, slowly increasing cloudiness offered some hope of showers for householders who set a new record for water consumption Monday in their efforts to keep lawns green.” — The South Bend Tribune

June 10, 1966: “The proposed abandonment of some fire stations and the reshuffling of the locations of others will provide a central area plan under which firefighters will be poised on the perimeter of the central downtown district ready to move in from all sides if necessary.” — The South Bend Tribune
