The String Cheese Incident is headed Boise’s way this summer.

The powerhouse jam band will headline an outdoor concert Tuesday, Aug. 1, at the Ford Idaho Center Amphitheater.

The show has all the makings of a significant “incident” for fans. It will happen two weeks after the String Cheese Incident performs a three-night run July 14-16 at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado.

Tickets to the Nampa concert become available to the general public starting at 10 a.m. Friday through fordidahocenter.com. They will cost $39.50 plus fees for the first 100 sold, $45 for the second 100, $49.50 for normal general admission, and $55 day of show.

Gates will open at 6 p.m.; the music starts at 7 p.m. The Cheese plans to perform two full sets with an intermission.

The String Cheese incident will return to the Boise area for the first time in eight years.

With roots in Crested Butte and Telluride, Colorado, the String Cheese Incident formed in 1993. Fueled by improvisation, the group soon developed into a heavyweight of the jam-band scene. The Cheese’s early, bluegrass-leaning jams eventually gave way to electronica, psychedelia and other onstage audio-visual explorations.

The band’s last visit to Boise was a two-night stand in 2015 at the Knitting Factory.
