SOUTH BEND — Alzheimer’s and Dementia Services of Northern Indiana will offer the free class “Creating an Emergency Plan” from 10 to 11 a.m. Oct. 9 in the Care Partner Academy. Patty Piechocki, director of the Institute for Excellence in Memory Care, will lead this live/interactive web session. Participants can connect through their computer. SOUTH BEND — Join others from 2 to 3 p.m. Oct. 8 for the 13th Annual Pregnancy and Infant Loss — Day of Remembrance Petal Toss. A brief program and a petal toss will be held at Angel of Hope Memorial Garden at Pinhook Park, 2801 Riverside Drive. This event is sponsored by Angel of Hope Memorial Garden, hosted by Isaiah’s Chapter, Threads of Love.

NILES — The Veggie Van will be at Corewell Health Center, 2002 S. 11th St., Niles, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 11 offering free, locally grown fruits and vegetables, and nutrition information. This event is drive-thru style and participants can remain in their vehicles.

LAPORTE — The Bolt for the Heart annual race will be held at 9 a.m. CDT Oct. 14 at Cummings Lodge in Soldiers Memorial Park, 250 Pine Lake Ave. The event will have a family 3.34-mile and 6.7-mile walk/run to raise money to place life-saving automatic external defibrillators in law enforcement vehicles. Registration is $35 for the 3.34-mile walk/run and $45 for the 6.7-mile walk/run. For more information, to register or to donate, go to boltfortheheart.com.

MISHAWAKA — Michiana Hematology Oncology will hold its monthly Breast Cancer Survivor Support Group meeting from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at 5340 Holy Cross Parkway. The group is led by Dr. Zon, physician emeritus of MHO. This month’s guest speaker is Katherine Leng, medical science liaison, who will present “Find Your Finish to Anti-Estrogen Therapy with Precision Testing.” All are welcome, including current patients, family members and cancer support advocates. Vaccinations

SOUTH BEND — The St. Joseph County Department of Health, 227 W. Jefferson Blvd., Floor 8, has opened its fall respiratory immunization clinic to allow for additional appointments for respiratory-related immunizations. Currently, flu vaccine is being offered with COVID-19 and RSV. Immunization costs are covered by most health insurance plans. For those without health insurance or with plans that do not cover vaccinations, the St. Joseph County Department of Health has programs to provide vaccines at little to no cost. GOSHEN — Goshen Physicians will be hosting drive-thru flu shot clinics this fall. All community members, age 10 and older, are eligible. The shot is free with most insurance plans. Cash, check and credit card will also be accepted. Self-pay is $40 for the low dose and $107 for the high dose. No prior registration is necessary. Bring a photo ID, insurance card and payment method. Parent/guardian signature is required for those under 18. Dates and times are subject to change because of inclement weather.
