Classes

SOUTH BEND — Alzheimer’s and Dementia Services of Northern Indiana will offer the free class “Safe Home, Safe Environment” from 10 to 11 a.m. Nov. 27 in the Care Partner Academy. Patty Piechocki, director of the Institute for Excellence in Memory Care, will lead this live/interactive web session. Participants can connect through their computer. GOSHEN — Chair Yoga will be offered by the Elkhart County Parks from 9 to 10 a.m. Nov. 30 in the Ox Bow Haus Shelter in Ox Bow Park, 23033 County Road 45. Chair Yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is done while seated or using a chair for balance. Wear comfortable clothing. Some mats are available, bring your own if you have one. This is a free class for those 12 years and older. No registration is required.

MISHAWAKA — Battell Community Center, 904 N. Main St., offers the following fitness classes. Please note that fees and charges are subject to change without prior notice.

• Cardio Drumming — Combines dance and fitness. All skill levels are welcome. 6:30 p.m. Mondays; 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Cost: $5 per class.

• Middle Eastern Dance — Fitness and fun for all ages. Level 1 (beginners), 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays; Level 2 (intermediate/advanced), 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Wednesdays; Level 3 (approval from Ruby); 6 to 7 p.m. Mondays. For cost and information, contact Ruby at 574-315-1915.

• Aerobics — Mondays and Wednesdays, 9 to 10 a.m. Start a morning exercise routine.

• Senior Shape Up — Mondays and Wednesdays, 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. All exercises are done while sitting in a chair or standing near the chair.

• Line Dancing — Tuesdays, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Open to all skill levels.

Events

SOUTH BEND — The 30th Annual Women & Aids Conference presented by the Women & Aids Coalition will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 30 in Leighton Auditorium at the St. Joseph County Public Library, 305 S. Michigan St. Topics will include HIV 101 and prevention, innovative drug testing, harm reduction, and medically assisted treatments. Speakers include Marya Libberman, professor of chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Notre Dame, and Dr. Rene Alonzo, family and addiction medicine physician at Goshen Health.

Support Groups

MISHAWAKA — Michiana Hematology Oncology will hold its monthly Breast Cancer Survivor Support Group meeting from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 29 at 5340 Holy Cross Parkway. The group is led by Dr. Zon, physician emeritus of MHO. This month’s guest speaker is Dr. Erica Martin, South Bend pathologist, presenting “Understanding your Pathology Report.” All are welcome including current patients, family members and cancer support advocates. Vaccinations

BERRIEN COUNTY — Corewell Health Lakeland will hold the following community drive-thru flu shot clinics. No appointment is needed, and participants remain in their vehicles the entire time. Must be 18 years or older.

• Noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 24, 28, 29 and 30 at 100 W. Main St., Benton Harbor.

There is no cost with most insurance; bring insurance card with you. $37 for the traditional vaccine or $74 for the high-dose vaccine. Cash or check only; credit cards not accepted. For questions, please contact Corewell Health Employer Services at 269-927-5154.
