It was just days ago that officials announced former first lady Rosalynn Carter had entered hospice care at her Plains, Ga., home.

She died Sunday at the age of 96.

Her husband, former President Jimmy Carter, 99, has lived longer after entering hospice care.

Jimmy Carter went into home hospice care earlier this year after stopping treatment on multiple health issues.

After a series of short hospital stays, the Carter Center said in February, Jimmy Carter decided to spend his remaining time at home with his family and receive hospice care instead of additional medical intervention.

The center said at the time Carter had the full support of his family and his medical team.

No new health updates on Jimmy Carter were released Sunday by the Carter Center.

The schedule of memorial events and funeral ceremonies for Rosalynn Carter will be distributed as soon as possible and posted on www.rosalynncartertribute.org.
