Your health is priceless. Somerset Health Fair offers free ways to care for yourself

Several organizations have joined forces to provide two free community health and wellness fairs this coming weekend.

Where and when?

The Somerset event is Friday from 2:30-6:30 p.m. at Georgian Place, 707 Georgian Place.

Cambria County’s event is Saturday from 2:30-6:30 p.m. at PNG Park, 90 Johns St.

Registration is not required.

Why now?

May is designated as Hepatitis Awareness Month in the United States, and National Hepatitis Testing Day is May 19, thus the dates and the events chosen for the Somerset Health Fair.

"The events are intended to provide important preventive resources to the community in an accessible way at one location," said Alyce Palko, who helped organize the community events.

These services are not provided in response to any outbreaks, she said.

The sponsors

The 1889 Jefferson Center for Population Health, Highlands Health, the Cambria-Somerset COVID-19 Task Force, and In This Together Cambria-Somerset are the sponsors and organizers of the the community health and wellness fairs.

Vaccines

Hepatitis A and B vaccines will be given for adults age 19 and older who qualify.

Rapid tests

Hepatitis C rapid tests and HIV rapid tests will be available. People who are tested will receive a Sheetz gift card.

Boosters for staying up to date

This community-based clinic provides a convenient opportunity for those who have not yet been vaccinated or have not received a bivalent booster(s) to stay up-to-date on their COVID-19 vaccines.

COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters will be offered. To receive boosters, customers must bring their vaccination cards. Those who receive a COVID vaccination or booster will receive a $50 Giant Eagle gift card.
