Health and Wellness: Marketplace open enrollment

You can’t turn around without seeing or hearing about Medicare open enrollment. It’s also open enrollment time for persons with health insurance through the Marketplace – also known as Affordable Care Act insurance or Obamacare. If you have this type of health insurance, now is the time to make updates and changes in your coverage.

If you don't log in to update your application, and choose and enroll in a plan by Dec. 15, 2022, you may be automatically enrolled in a 2023 plan. Automatic enrollment is handy. But the best way to make sure you have a 2023 plan that works for you, with the savings you qualify for, is to log in, update your application, and view all your plan options for 2023.

Maybe you recently found a job that offers health insurance benefits and you need to cancel the Marketplace plan you had. Or perhaps the premium on your current Marketplace plan is going up in 2023. These are good reasons to log into your HealthCare.gov account anytime from Nov. 1, 2022, until Jan. 15, 2023.

There are very good instructions on the Marketplace website explaining different situations. You can also phone 800-318-2596 for help.
