Health & Wellness Summit Oct. 12 in LaSalle

LaSALLE – The Monroe County Health & Wellness Summit will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 12 at LaRoy's Hall. Registration is due by Oct. 5.

Molly Armstrong, registered dietitian for Gordon Food Service, will speak at 11 a.m. Her topic is "Easy Tips for Healthy Eating."

A health and wellness panel will be offered at 12:15 p.m. Four will be on the panel, Sandie Pierce, director of the Monroe Center for Healthy Aging, said.

Dr. Deepanvita Kalvala from Family Medicine of Toledo specializes in geriatrics.

“She will speak about the importance of seeing your doctor, what changes to be aware of, what questions to ask,” Pierce said.

Betsy Bradley, a fitness trainer at the Monroe Family YMCA, will discuss the importance of exercise.

Pierce will speak about balance. A physical therapist also will be on the panel.

Event sponsors and vendors will staff information tables starting at 10 a.m. Lunch will be served at 11:45; a cash donation of $5 is suggested.

The basket raffle drawing will take place at 12:50 p.m.
