Healthy people misusing handicap parking spaces because it's convenient | Letters

My concern is that no one is monitoring handicap parking anywhere, and the abuse is widespread. I have numerous health issues and do have a handicap placard, which we had to get a prescription from my doctor and go to the BMV and purchase. Because of my conditions, sometimes I will stay in our car while my wife goes grocery or other shopping. I witness daily young healthy folks of all races and ages pulling into handicap parking spots just because it is convenient for them and not thinking of the elderly, handicapped person who has to park farther away because all of the spots are taken. I see this at grocery stores (Kroger, Meijer and Sam's Club) hospitals (Mercy West), Walmart and other places, and no one cares enough to monitor the handicap spots. I think that this is a shame, and something or someone should do something about this travesty.
