'I Can Hear Explosions Still': Kyiv Woman Records Moments After Russian Strike

Loud explosions were heard in Kyiv as Russian forces launched a missile attack on the capital early on the morning of March 21, injuring at least 10 people, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration.

Julia Tymoshenko filmed this footage of herself at home in the moments after a strike in the city. Distant explosions can be heard in the background.

“I just saw a Shahed drone outside my window,” she said, referring to an Iran-made self-detonating drone used by Russian forces in their war in Ukraine.

“As I woke up from the explosion, I never ran so much quicker to my bathroom ever trying to hide.”

“It lit up and hit something very nearby. I can hear explosions still.”

In a later post on X Tymoshenko corrected herself, saying: “it was likely an X-101 cruise missile that I saw out of my window [because] it had small wings. [Obviously], I couldn’t comprehend it in that second because I was panicking and fearing for my life.”

Ukraine’s Air Force reported that Russian forces had launched Kinzhal ballistic missiles in the direction of Kyiv overnight.

According to Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, at least 10 residents were injured in the attack with two transported to hospital. Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, said one of the injured was an 11-year-old girl. Credit: Julia Tymoshenko via Storyful

JULIA TYMOSHENKO: I just saw Shahed drone out of my window. What the fuck was that sound? I just saw a Shahed drone flying out of my window. Not out, I mean, past my window. As I woke up from the explosion, I've never ran so much quicker to my bathroom ever trying to, like, hide. It lit up and hit some thing very nearby. I can hear explosions still.
