Backwoods, a bluegrass and country band, will perform at the Mitchell Opera House on May 6.

Bluegrass and country band Backwoods will be performing at Mitchell Opera House on May 6 at 7 p.m.

Coming from southern Indiana, Backwoods finds traditional bluegrass as their inspiration and plays many upbeat, classic tunes that fans know and love. Backwoods is also known for incorporating well known classic country and 90s country hits and making the songs their own.

Band members are Rusty Collier, Joe East, Austin Harper, and Sarah Stewart.

Backwoods bluegrass band has performed at the Indiana State Museum for Honoring Indiana’s Living Governors as well as having played for Northern Indiana Bluegrass Association. Backwoods' YouTube channel is currently nearing 400,000 views!

Backwoods will be featured at several festivals this year including ones in Louisville, Kentucky and Shipshewana, Indiana.

Catch some of your favorite country and bluegrass songs such as "Lovebug" by George Strait, "Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)" by John Michael Montgomery, "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash, and even "Ramblin’ Fever" by Merle Haggard.

Tickets can be purchased on at mitchelloperahouse.com, ACE Hardware in Mitchell or at the ticket booth the night of the event. Adult tickets are $15 and kids 12 and under are $8.

Mitchell Opera House is handicap accessible.

All seating is first come, first served.

Food and drinks are not permitted in the auditorium.

Doors open at 6:15 p.m.
