We heard your mascot ideas for 2 new Pasco schools. Vote for your favorite in our poll

We’ve heard your mascot suggestions for Pasco’s two new high schools. But which ones are your favorites?

We narrowed the field to a few so that Tri-City Herald readers can tell us which two mascots they think Harvest View High School and the career and college academy Orion High School should adopt.

Are the “Cornhuskers” the obvious choice for Harvest View, or should they be the “Rattlers?”

Are the “Archers” an easy bullseye for Orion, or are the “Pilots” a more fitting mascot?

You tell us.

School district plans

Pasco school officials say branding concepts already have been drafted for at least one of the two schools but not released yet to the public.

Pasco School District staff will present preliminary concepts, colors, taglines and a mascot mockup for Harvest View High School at the Tuesday, Nov. 14, school board meeting.

The materials for that presentation will be published Thursday, Nov. 9, on the district’s website.

They will continue to solicit community feedback on the school’s name, colors and mascot in the coming weeks and months, officials said.

Voters earlier this year approved a 21-year, $195.5 million bond measure to build the third comprehensive high school in West Pasco and the career and college academy in east Pasco to ease overcrowding. Both schools will open fall 2025.

Harvest View will serve about 2,000 students, and will offer a signature agriculture career and technical education program.

Construction of the 300,000-square-foot building has begun on a 65-acre campus at 6091 Burns Road.

Orion High will serve 600 students, who will graduate workforce ready with credentials, industry certifications and hands-on experience. The 65,000-square-foot school will be on 10 acres near Ochoa Middle School.

Construction on Orion is scheduled to start in the spring.
