July is full of activities. Here are five events you might want to check out in the Peoria area.

Heart of Illinois Fair in Peoria

The Heart of Illinois Fair continues its 2022 run through Saturday, July 23, at Expo Gardens in Peoria. The fair includes a variety of events and activities for the whole family. Admission is $10 for ages 13 and older, $5 for children ages 6-12, and free for children ages 5 and under. For a full schedule of events and more information, visit www.heartofillinoisfair.com.

Quad Con at Peoria Civic Center

Celebrate all things pop culture at Quad Con, taking place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 23, at the Peoria Civic Center. The event will feature over 100 vendors, artists, panels, cosplay contests, video game tournaments and more. The featured guest, actor Ross Marquand ("Walking Dead," "Avengers Endgame"), will be in attendance for autographs and photos. Admission is $10 for ages 12 and older and free for ages 11 and under.

Way Down Wanderers in Peoria

The Way Down Wanderers will perform their annual homecoming show on Saturday, July 23, at CEFCU Center Stage on the Peoria riverfront. The show will also feature special guests the Mighty Pines. Doors open at 7 p.m. and performances begin at 8 p.m. Admission is $13 in advance or $18 at the door. For tickets and more information, visit peoriaparks.org.

Historical Society bus tours

The Peoria Historical Society: Saturday's tour will be "Roll Out the Barrel," providing an overview of Peoria's whiskey distillery days. Tickets are $20 and are available at 309tix.com or by calling the Historical Society at 309-674-1921. Tours depart from outside the Caterpillar Visitors Center, 110 SW Washington St.

Classical Indian Music Festival

Listen to local artists as they perform Indian classical music, an ancient art form from northern India, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 23, at the Peoria Public Library North Branch, 3001 W. Grand Parkway. Performances include vocalist Deepashri Phatak, with Prasad Joshi and Dipesh Dimble on tabla and harmonium. Admission is free for this all-ages event.
