Heat announce three preseason home games ahead of 2021-22 season

The Miami Heat announced on Sunday their 2021-22 preseason home schedule with all three games being played at 601 Biscayne Blvd at the recently renamed FTX Arena.

The Heat will open their exhibition slate at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 4 versus the Atlanta Hawks before hosting the Charlotte Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 11.

They’ll conclude their home preseason schedule versus the Boston Celtics at 8 p.m. on Oct. 15.

Game tickets for the three home preseason games will go on sale Monday through Ticketmaster and the Heat’s official website.

The Heat’s complete preseason schedule and broadcast information will be released at a later date.

It isn’t yet known what capacity FTX Arena will operate at for the Heat’s preseason home games.

The Heat played in front of limited-capacity crowds for most of the 2020-21 regular season due to the COVID-19 pandemic before capping attendance at 17,000 inside the 19,600-seat facility alongside Biscayne Bay for the playoffs.

The Milwaukee Bucks’ and Phoenix Suns’ home arenas have operated at or near full capacity during the 2021 NBA Finals.

After the pandemic caused the NBA to alter the association’s schedule the past two seasons, the league is returning to its normal schedule for the 2021-22 season.

Training camp for next season is expected to start on Sept. 28 with the regular-season scheduled to begin on Oct. 19.

The 2021-22 season’s playoffs will start on April 16, 2022 with the 2022 NBA Finals scheduled to start on June 2 and those Finals’ Game 7 scheduled for June 19, if necessary, and the 2022 NBA draft scheduled for June 23.
