Heat could soon hit 100 in Tri-Cities. Cool down at these pools, splash pads

Temperatures could heat up to the triple digits in the coming days in the Tri-Cities, and pools and water parks are ready.

After a cool spring, summer is starting with temperatures that could be as much as 15 degrees above normal for the Tri-Cities.

Weather.com is forecasting a high of 102 on Monday.

The National Weather Service predicts highs to reach the 90s by Saturday and 99 by Monday. Those are the middle of a forecast range, with temperatures possibly about 3 degrees cooler or warmer.

Normal average highs at the end of June are in the mid 80s and normal average lows are in the mid 50s in the Tri-Cities, according to the National Weather Service.

If you want to beat the heat at a splash pad or pool, here are some possibilities:

Kennewick

Splash Pads and pools opened on Memorial Day Weekend:

The Kenneth Serier Memorial Pool opened June 16. Hours and other information can be found on the Kennewick Parks and Rec Aquatics website.

Richland

Splash Pads in Richland opened May 27:

Julie Jackson, city of Richland recreation manager, said the George Prout Aquatic Complex opened June 18, giving time for high schoolers and college students to finish school before working as life guards.

Hours can be found on the Richland Parks and Rec Aquatic section.

Swim lessons last two weeks and run from Monday to Thursday both weeks, Jackson said. There are four sessions throughout the summer.

The Columbia Basin Racquet Club’s pool is open for the summer as well.

Pasco

Splash pads in Pasco are at the Pasco Sporting Complex and Kurtzman Park and opened Memorial Day Weekend as well.

Brent Kubalek, recreation services manager, said the Memorial Aquatic Center opened June 10, and their hours can be found on the aquatic section of the Parks and Rec website.

If you’re feeling spontaneous and adventurous, nearby cities also have opened their water-related activities.
