Heat refocus on basketball, but with plenty on their mind

A week off between playoff series rarely is viewed as optimal, and yet Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said Saturday that in the wake of several tumultuous days, the benefits are apparent.

With the NBA having come to a halt for three days over outrage of social inaction regarding systemic racism, the time to both decompress and then reenergize has been embraced by the Heat.

“We had a couple of really good days of work,” Spoelstra said after Saturday’s practice at Disney World, “and nobody was in a mood to work on Wednesday night or Thursday.

“We’ve been able to get a couple good days of work.”
