In the wake of his team’s furious rally to a 15-point victory Friday night over the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinals, Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said it was time for an exhale.
“You do have to disengage for an evening and then we’ll get back to work tomorrow and get ready for a battle on Sunday,” he said of Game 4, which could be the finale of the best-of-seven series, with the Heat up 3-0.
Instead, Spoelstra gave his team Saturday off. Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer did the same with his team.
With Tuesday to mark two full months in the NBA’s quarantine bubble at Disney World for the Heat, mental health has been an ongoing concern. And while players have been allowed to add guests, coaches, to this point, have not been afforded the same luxury.
