Heath coaches Hardin, Klontz honored with new scholarship

A dinner held Saturday at the Trout Club marked the official kickoff to The Coach Hardin/Coach Klontz Bulldogs Forever scholarship.

Scholarships will be awarded each year to both a Heath male and female senior. The fund was established in 2022 by classmates, friends and alumni of Bulldog sports in honor of Hardin and Klontz for their decades-long service and dedication to providing Fulton Middle School and Heath High School students and athletes with outstanding physical education teaching, coaching and mentoring.

Hardin coached the girls basketball team to the state championship in 1995. He also was a long-time cross country and track coach.

Peggy and Don Hardin and Dave and Sheila Klontz were in attendance Saturday at the Trout Club announcing the creation of a scholarship for Heath seniors in honor of legendary coach Hardin and Klontz.

Klontz coached the baseball team to state championships in 2002 and ‘07. He also coached in the football program.

The scholarship celebrates their impact not only in bringing out the best in student athletes, but also sharing important life lessons and modeling values of hard work, leadership, teamwork, honesty, integrity, respect, and personal responsibility.
