Heather Post files overdue financial disclosure form, awaits action from ethics commission

Former Volusia County Councilwoman Heather Post recently filed her past-due financial disclosure form with the Florida Commission on Ethics, showing a net worth of close to $322,000 at the end of 2021.

The "Full and Public Disclosure of Financial Interests" form for 2021 was due July 1, 2022, but Post didn't meet that deadline.

A DeLand resident filed a complaint about the late filing, and the Florida Commission on Ethics found probable cause on Jan. 27 that Post violated the Florida Constitution and disclosure law for failing to file a financial disclosure form on time for the year 2021, according to documents.

The commission received the form on Feb. 8.

The form lists Post's net worth as of Dec. 31, 2021, as $321,856.

Post reported household goods and personal effects worth $250,000 and a home worth $375,000 in her assets, and she reported a liability of $303,144 from Veterans United Home Loans.

The form asks for all sources of income that exceed $1,000 in a year. Post listed her Volusia County Council income of $44,799.14.

As for the Commission on Ethics complaint, Post can attempt to reach a stipulated agreement with an advocate for the commission or go to a full evidentiary hearing with the state Division of Administrative Hearings, according to Lynn Blais, spokeswoman for the Florida Commission on Ethics.

The matter is still in the hands of the advocate, Blais said Monday. Whether the matter goes to a hearing or a settlement, the issue will come back to the commission for a recommendation. The commission's recommendation, such as a fine, would go to the governor for review.
