Heath's Butler, Licking Heights' Fillmore each win OHSAA state track title

COLUMBUS — Huntyr Butler made it back to back, and D.J. Fillmore will be thinking repeat 12 months from now.

Licking County athletes won two state track championships Saturday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, but that was just a piece of an eye-popping weekend. Licking County athletes also had three state runner-up finishes and four third-place finishes.

Butler, a Heath senior, repeated as Division II state champion in the boys 110 hurdles, running a time of 14.15.

Fillmore, a Licking Heights junior, jumped a personal-best 24-feet-11 to win the Division I boys long jump.

Heath senior Kennedi Bailey placed runner-up in the Division II girls shot put (44-2.25) as did Watkins Memorial junior Victoria Harvey in the Division I girls pole vault (12-8) and Granville senior Dylan Christian in the Division I boys 800 (1:51.73).

Newark senior Gwen Stare in the Division I girls 800 (2:13.71), Watkins senior Jenna Lucas in the Division I girls shot put (41-3), Licking Heights senior Emmanuel Ennin in the Division I boys discus (161-5) and Northridge freshman Isabel Evans in the Division II girls 300 hurdles (44.85) each placed third.
