It's heating up at the 7th Street Bar & Grill. Here's what's there and what's to come
The 7th Street Bar and Grill opened late last month at 1663 N. 7th Street, the location of a former local favorite, Justine's Place.
So far, they're off to a great start.
Nidhi and Paul Soin, who own local gas stations, convenience stores and Subway restaurants, bought the building in April of last year. This is their first foray into the sit-down restaurant business.
Construction on the building, which began shortly after they purchased the property, completely reimagined the look of the restaurant from the inside out. The Kitchen, the bar locations in the restaurant, just about everything is brand new.
Nidhi said that pretty much everything in the building except for the four walls was gutted in the process.
When looking for inspiration, they settled on maintaining a local, inviting interior celebrating the community's first responders.
They've also put up an homage to the former business inside the building with photos of what it looked like before the remodel.
Aside from the bar and seating, the restaurant has a pool table, dart board and juke box that can connect through smart phones.
Knowing many of their customers from their other businesses, they wanted the restaurant to be a part of the community, a place to come together.
"This is their meeting place now," said Paul, "which is nice for them."
He said that already groups come in for weekly meetings, which they're glad to accommodate. He also wanted to thank the community for all the support that they've shown.
During their most recent wing night, where a dozen wings, boneless or traditional, are $9.99, they ended up having to turn costumers away because they were so busy.
The menu features traditional bar fare such as burgers, sandwiches, wings and finger foods as well as tacos, quesadillas and salads.
They offer food and drink specials that change weekly.
7th Street Bar & Grill is open Tuesday through Sunday. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. until Midnight.
Happy hour is every day 3-5 p.m.
What's next?
Despite working tirelessly to open the restaurant, there's still more to come.
On Aug. 19 from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m. The Full Circle will play the restaurant's first live show. Paul said that afterwards, he plans on having two nights of live music every month.
Weekly trivia nights and a pool league are also planned.
While online and over the phone ordering is already available, they'll soon have ordering through mobile apps such as Doordash and Uber Eats as well.
Paul said that he plans on putting a porch on the back of the restaurant to expand seating during the summer.
Their menu will also be getting a face-lift soon, adding crab cakes, a special that sold out when they offered it, a kids menu and several pasta dishes, including a Cajun inspired pasta.
