The heatwave is even stifling family vacations

Summer reached a boiling point this week and now it continues to simmer in the mid 90′s.

Melissa Moran is parking it until it cools off. “Just sit on the beach, go swimming, stay in the water, sunscreen,” said Moran.

At White Horse Beach in Plymouth, some of the rentals don’t have AC.

Marie Christian, originally from Mississippi, has no air conditioning. “We do not have air conditioning. We put the fans up. It does get a little balmy in there,” said Christian, “this is just like a nice spring day for Mississippi”.

On the other side of Plymouth, at Pinewood Lodge Campground, Noah Seitz is an engineer and he is sizing up his decision to sleep in the tent where our thermometer already has him at about 81 degrees in the shade.

“Yeah, I got the fan and that is a nice bonus. I wasn’t expecting that either,” said Seitz.

Pinewood Lodge Campground owner Brian Saunders says they have not had any heat-related cancelations.

They still come out. July is again one extreme or another. It’s never in the middle for July,” said Saunders. To help keep a cool mindset – the campground is celebrating Christmas in July this weekend. “Trying to get them all thinking about the snow and winter here while it is 95. Santa Clause is coming into town and doing a parade,” said Saunders.

But vacationers say the bottom line is, that it’s better than a week of washout rain. “New Englanders are tough, you all can tough it out with the weather. You have been waiting all year for this weather so enjoy it,” said Christian.
