The sands of Myrtle Beach are right in the middle of the action. Visitors have easy access to restaurants, shops, piers and the boardwalk.

A reviewer wrote in February that they liked “watching/hearing the waves, enjoying sunrises/sunsets, finding an occasional interesting shell or two.”

4. Windy Hill Beach

Located near Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach, visitors enjoy the soft sand and relatively small crowds of Windy Hill Beach. Beachgoers can search in the tidepools for barnacles and anemones.

One visitor wrote on Tripadvisor in August 2022, “We’ve been visiting Windy Hill Beach for 10+ years and have never been disappointed…The beach is safe to walk at night with the kids. Heaven on Earth!”

In September 2022, a beach goer wrote in a Tripadvisor review, “We love to visit North Myrtle and the gorgeous beach. The beach is clean and inviting…The beach crowd is always a wide range of ages, from seniors to babies.”

The last public beach before hitting the North Carolina state line, Cherry Grove Beach offers a quiet experience of the Atlantic Ocean. Some reviewers mentioned having luck finding shark teeth in the sand. Go out onto the sand at Cherry Grove Point to see a glimpse of the largely undeveloped Waties Island.

A visitor wrote on Tripadvisor in August 2022, “If you want to enjoy the beach without all the hustle and bustle of the tourist traps then Cherry Grove is it!!”

1. Litchfield Beach

The highest rated beach in South Carolina on TripAdvisor, visitors describe Litchfield Beach as relaxing and uncrowded. Sandwiched between Murrells Inlet and Pawleys Island, the beach is close to other popular outdoor attractions like Brookgreen Gardens, Huntington Beach State Park and Atalaya Castle.

A Tripadvisor reviewer wrote in March 2023, “What is not to love here. The water. WOW. The sand. Double WOW!!!”
