Heavy fire damage reported to 150-year-old Montville Township home
An early morning fire Saturday caused extensive damage to a 150-year-old home on Wooster Pike in Montville Township.
Several fire departments, including from Medina, Lafayette, Sharon and the Seville-Guilford Fire and EMS responded to the fire, which was reported about 6 a.m. The Montville Police Department, Medina Life Support Team and representatives from Ohio Edison also responded.
The combined efforts of the responding departments saved the structure but "there was extensive damage done to the first and second floors," according to a Facebook post by the Medina Fire Department.
A woman who was in the house was treated for smoke inhalation at Medina Hospital and was expected to make a full recovery, according to the post. No firefighters were injured.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, although it is believed to be accidental, according to information from the Medina Fire Department. No estimated cost of the damage was available.
A family member of the home's occupant told firefighters he believed the house was built in the late 1860s.
